Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) stellte nun <a href="http://www.musclecars.at/2009/04/01/hennessey-limited-edition-2010-hpe550-chevrolet-camaro">den neuen HPE550</a>, 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS, vor und edmunds waren die Ersten, welche diesen Kraftprotz auf Herz und Nieren testen durften. Ihr erstes Fazit, er ist laut, die Reifen qualmen, V8 Power liegt in der Luft, Front Engine, rear-wheel-drive, eben ein echtes amerikanisches muscle car &#8211; Sie lieben Ihn und hoffen das John Hennessey mehr davon produziert. Um noch etwas mehr vom Scharm der originalen muscle cars zu &#8220;erschleichen&#8221;, stattet Hennessey den neuen Camaro mit einer Yenko typischen Farbkombi aus und so kommt der HPE550 im orange, schwazen Kleid daher. Angetrieben wird der Camaro SS vom 6.2L LS3 V8, welcher original mit 426 PS daher kommt und dank Turbolader auf eine Leistung von 562 PS gesteiget wurde. Hennessey beziffert die Leistung des HPE550 Leistung offiziell jedoch &#8220;nur&#8221; mit 530 PS. Der HPE550 steht ab sofort zum Verkauft und kann f&#252;r 62.500 Dollar (so wie er auf den Fotos zu sehen ist) erworben werden. Eine weiter Option ist es seinen eigenen Camaro f&#252;r 24.950 Dollar zu einem HPE550 trimmen zu lassen. Verzichtet man auf das alles und bestellt sich nur die Teile, so gibt es das ganze zum selber bauen f&#252;r 18.950 Dollar! <p>Das Tunerteam um Artisan hat jetzt &#252;berraschend den Artisan Camaro SS SA-600 angek&#252;ndigt. Dieser <a href="http://www.musclecars.at/2009/03/17/der-neue-camaro-ist-da-und-seine-kompletten-technischen-daten-inkl-verbrauch">2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS</a> wird mit zwei r&#252;ckw&#228;rts montierte GTK350 Turboladern ausgestattet werden, eine cat-black Auspuffanlage bekommen, einen neuen K&#252;hler und eine &#252;berarbeitete Steuerungssoftware, welche den 6,2L V8 zu 600 PS verhelfen. F&#252;r die Optik gibt es verschiedene Tuningteile, wie neue 21-Zoll Felgen (vorne) und 22-Zoll Felgen hinten, welche unter die verbreiterten Radk&#228;sten passen und die 14-Zoll SSBC Bremsanlage hervorheben l&#228;sst. Dazu gibts eine neue Lippe f&#252;r vorne und einen Diffuser f&#252;r hinten und und und. Der Hennessey Camaro bringt einen mittels Kompressor aufgeladenen LS3 mit sich, welcher bei 6 PSI Druck eine Leistung von 562 PS bei 755 Nm erreicht. Alles andere &#228;hnelt sehr stark an den HPE700, so bekommt der Camaro neue Felgen, neue Front- und Seitenspoiler, neue Decals und schicke Fu&#223;matten. Als Zuckerl legt Hennessey noch ein halbt&#228;giges Fahrsicherheitstraining oben drauf. Von dem HPE550 werden nur 500 St&#252;ck gebaut. Hennessey hat ebenso angek&#252;ndigt optional eine lange Liste von Sonderausstattungen anzubieten. So wird es bald ein TwinTurbo System geben, welches den Camaro zu einer Leistung von &#252;ber 1000 PS verleihen soll.<br />

HENNESSEY PERFORMANCE ENGINEERING ANNOUNCES LIMITED EDITION 562 HP HIGH PERFORMANCE PACKAGE FOR THE 2010 CAMARO</strong></p>
<p>SEALY, TX – Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE), well known for their extreme performance sports cars and muscle cars, announces their Limited Edition 2010 HPE550 Camaro.</p>
<p>At the heart of the beast is a supercharger system added atop the LS3 V8 making 6 psi boost combined with a Corsa stainless steel exhaust system and custom engine management calibration from HPE. This upgrade system results in 562 bhp and 557 lb-ft torque. Rounding out the package, HPE adds a set of light weight 20 inch wheels, Hennessey&#8217;s Cam-Aero â„¢ body upgrades include: Rear lip spoiler, carbon side rocker panels and front splitter, Hennessey graphics package and premium floor mats.</p>
<p>Hennessey plans to offer up to 500 units for the 2010 model year. Each HPE550 will come with its own unique serial number which will be displayed on a plaque located on the dash and under the hood. Other options available from HPE include: Larger brakes, suspension upgrades, upgraded interiors along with larger wheels and tires. HPE will also be offering more powerful engine upgrades including twin turbo systems producing up to 1000 hp.</p>
<p>HPE is also offering a modified version of the LS9 motor which currently powers the 638 bhp Corvette ZR1. The company has been testing their 705 bhp variant of the LS9 since February using retired GM engineer and racer, John Heinricy as their development engineer and test driver. Heinricy recently drove Hennessey&#8217;s ZR1 at the Texas Mile to a record setting speed of 196.7 mph in the standing mile.</p>
<p>&#8220;The HPE550 upgrade package gives 2010 Camaro owners the kind of power they are going to want, especially when they roll up on a Shelby GT500 Mustang&#8221;, said John Hennessey, President and CEO of Hennessey Performance Engineering. &#8220;We will also be offering an extensive list of aftermarket performance parts and accessories for the 2010 Camaro. From mild to wild, new Camaro owners will be able to order air induction systems, exhaust and header systems as well as supercharger systems, suspension kits and more.</p>
<p>HPE550 buyers will also receive a 1/2-day performance driving course at Lonestar Motorsports Park – a Â¼ mile dragstrip facility located adjacent to Hennessey&#8217;s 24,000 square foot production facility and showroom. The HPE550 Camaro is available from select Chevrolet dealers as well as directly from Hennessey Performance Engineering. Production will begin in May, 2009 and orders are now being taken.</p>
<p>Located just west of Houston Texas at the Lonestar Motorsports Park complex, HPE has been building American supercars for nearly two decades with its Veyron-beating Venom Vipers, Ford GT&#8217;s and recently released Dodge Challengers.</p>

<p>Seit dem 16. M&#228;rz 2008 ist es endlich soweit, denn gestern liefen die Produktionsb&#228;nder offiziell, f&#252;r den Chevrolet Camaro an. Dies hat General Motors auch zum Anlass gegeben uns die neuesten technischen Daten zukommen zu lassen. Auch dabei der Verbrauch und die harten Fakten des Sprints von 0 auf 100 km/h. Fangen wir also gleich mal mit dem kleinen Camaro an, welcher mit einem 3,6L V6 Motor eine Leistung von 304 PS auf die Stra&#223;e bringt und laut GM einen Verbrauch von 29 Meilen pro Gallone hat, sprich 8,1L auf 100 km, wohlgemerkt auf &#220;berlandfahrten. In der Stadt muss man mit 13L pro 100 km (6-Gang Automatik) bzw. 13,8L (6-Gang Schalter) rechnen. Bei dem st&#228;rkeren V8 Model sind es hingegen 14,6L im Stadtverkehr und 9,4L auf der Landstra&#223;e, pro 100km. Das sind doch beachtlich niedrige Werte, wenn man daf&#252;r in nur 4,2 Sek von 0-100 km/h beschleunigen k&#246;nnte und man dies alles f&#252;r einen relativ niedriegen Preis erhalten kann. Die drei Muscle cars hier einmal im direkten Vergleich.</p>

<p><strong>2010 CHEVY CAMARO&#8217;S PERFORMANCE BLENDS HORSEPOWER WITH EFFICIENCY</strong></p>
<p>DETROIT – When it comes to performance, the 2010 Camaro delivers in unexpected ways. An advanced 3.6L direct-injected V-6 with variable valve timing is standard on LS and LT models. It offers power and efficiency, with 304 horsepower (227 kW) and EPA-rated 29 mpg in highway driving.</p>
<p>The performance-oriented Camaro SS offers a pair of 6.2L V-8s, including one with Active Fuel Management that helps improve fuel economy by shutting down four cylinders during certain light-load driving conditions. That model delivers 25 mpg in EPA-rated highway fuel economy.</p>
<p>Indeed, the surprising fuel economy of the new Camaro enhances the driving experience. LS and LT models are EPA-rated at 18 mpg in the city and 29 on the highway with an automatic transmission; and 17 city and 29 highway with the manual transmission. Camaro SS with an automatic is rated at 16 city and 25 highway; and 16 city/24 highway with the manual transmission. Notably, none of Camaro&#8217;s models is subject to federal gas guzzler taxes.</p>
<p>For comparison, the more expensive 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 offers comparable horsepower to the Camaro SS with the manual transmission – 425 (317 kW) vs. 426 (318 kW) – and is EPA-rated at 14 city and 22 highway. When automatic-equipped models are compared, the Camaro wins again, with the Challenger SRT8 rated at 13 city and 19 highway.</p>
<p>All of Camaro&#8217;s engines channel their power to a responsive chassis that features independent front and rear suspensions, large, four-wheel-disc brake systems with standard ABS and GM&#8217;s StabiliTrak electronic stability control system.</p>
<p><strong>3.6L direct injection V-6</strong></p>
<p>Camaro&#8217;s 3.6L direct injection (DI) V-6 delivers more power through increased efficiency, while maintaining fuel economy and lowering emissions – including a 25-percent drop in cold-start hydrocarbon emissions. Direct injection optimizes fuel delivery to the combustion chamber by introducing fuel closer to the combustion chamber. The fuel injectors are located beneath the intake ports and fuel is injected directly into the cylinder. The result is better efficiency in the combustion process leading to increased fuel efficiency at part and full throttle.</p>
<p>The 3.6L DI engine produces 304 horsepower (227 kW) at 5,900 rpm and 273 lb.-ft. of torque (370 Nm) at 5,200 rpm. Its 60-degree cylinder block and cylinder heads are cast aluminum to help reduce mass. A forged steel crankshaft provides optimal strength in the bottom end. The cylinder heads include four valves per cylinder, with a dual overhead camshaft design incorporating infinitely variable cam phasing.</p>
<p>A full dual exhaust system, with dual catalytic converters, helps reduce back pressure for optimum power. It also helps the engine reach operating temperature quicker to help burn off cold-start emissions. And despite a compression ratio of 11.3:1, the 3.6L DI engine is designed to run on regular gas.</p>
<p><strong>Camaro SS&#8217;s 6.2L powertrains</strong></p>
<p>Two 6.2L V-8 engines are offered in the Camaro SS, including the new L99 on automatic-equipped vehicles and the LS3 on manual-equipped models. Both engines are derived from the LS3 that debuted on the 2008 Corvette.</p>
<p>The 90-degree V-8 includes an aluminum block (with cast iron cylinder liners) and aluminum cylinder heads. The bottom end of the engine includes a new structural cast aluminum oil pan, with an oil capacity of 8.9 quarts (8.5 liters), while the two-valve cylinder head design is based on race-proven airflow dynamics. The intake valves measure 2.16 inches (55 mm) and exhaust valves are 1.60 inches (40.5 mm) in diameter.</p>
<p>The 6.2L engines also use a roller lifter-style camshaft with 5-percent greater intake-side valve lift than the Corvette&#8217;s LS3. It manages airflow that is channeled through an acoustically tuned intake manifold with a composite design that reduces runner-to-runner variation. The throttle bore diameter is 90 mm.</p>
<p>Horsepower for the L99 is 400 (298 kW) at 5,900 rpm and torque is 410 lb.-ft. (556 Nm) at 4,300 rpm. The LS3 develops 426 horsepower (318 kW) at 5,900 rpm and 420 lb.-ft. (569 Nm) at 4,600 rpm (all numbers are SAE certified). Output on the L99 is lower than the LS3 because of a slighter lower compression ratio (10.4:1 vs. 10.7:1) and design features of the Active Fuel Management System. The L99 is paired exclusively with an automatic transmission.</p>
<p>As with the 3.6L models, the SS models employ a full dual exhaust system, with two catalytic converters to reduce back pressure.</p>
<p><strong>Transmissions</strong></p>
<p>All Camaro models can be equipped with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The availability of a six-speed automatic transmission is a first for Camaro.</p>
<p>Standard with the 3.6L engine is the Aisin AY6 six-speed manual. It features lower shift effort and shorter throws for easier shifting and &#8220;fun-to-drive&#8221; characteristics. A hydraulic clutch and self-adjusting mechanism eliminates the need for adjustments throughout the lifespan of the transmission.</p>
<p>The Hydra-Matic 6L50 six-speed automatic is optional with 3.6L-equipped models. It has an aggressive 4.07:1 first gear ratio that delivers strong launches, but also provides tall overdrive ratios that decrease engine rpm and provide better fuel efficiency. The 6L50 also includes driver shift control, with the driver taking control via paddle shifts located on the steering wheel after selecting the &#8220;M&#8221; mode on the console-mounted shifter.</p>
<p>Performance Algorithm Shifting (PAS) is included with the 6L50. It lets the electronic transmission controller override the automatic gear selection during high lateral acceleration maneuvers.</p>
<p>On SS models, the new Tremec TR 6060 six-speed manual is paired with the LS3. It is designed to handle the high torque characteristics of the engine, while providing shorter throws, smoother gear synchronization and greater overall shift feel with little or no vibration. Its specs include a solid 290 mm flywheel and single-plate clutch. The final drive ratio for LS3 vehicles is 3.45:1.</p>
<p>The highest-capacity automatic ever in a GM passenger car, the Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic, is matched with the L99 engine. Like the 6L50 transmission, it features driver shift control and PAS. The final drive ratio on all automatic-equipped Camaro models is 3.27:1. </p>

Bei der <a href="http://www.barrett-jackson.com">Barrett-Jackson Auktion </a>wurde bereits <a href="http://www.musclecars.at/2008/01/20/barrett-jackson-2008-die-erste-2009-kommende-corvette-zr1-erzielte-1mio">die erste Corvette ZR-1 f&#252;r unglaubliche 1mio US-Dollar</a> und <a href="http://www.musclecars.at/2008/01/20/barrett-jackson-2008-der-erste-2008-dodge-challenger-srt8-erzielte-400000">der erste Challenger SRT8 f&#252;r 400.000 Dollar</a> erfolgreich versteigert. Wie auch damals kommt der gesamte Erl&#246;s des Camaros einem guten Zweck zugute, der American Heart Association. Der entg&#252;ltige Produktionsstart des neuen Camaros beginnt &#252;brigens erst einen Monat sp&#228;ter! Um welches Modell es sich dabei handeln wird ist noch nicht bekannt.<br />

Da ist zum einen der <strong>Camaro LS7</strong>, welcher auf den COPO Camaros der sp&#228;ten 60&#8242;igern basiert. COPO steht dabei f&#252;r &#8220;Central Office Production Order&#8221; und steht im Gegenzug zu den RPO, den &#8220;Regular Production Options&#8221;. Der LS7 ist ausgestattet mit dem LS7 Crate Motor aus dem GM Performance Parts Programm, welcher getunt zusammen mit einem manuellen Tremec 6-Gang Schaltung, eine Leistung von 550PS produziert. Brembo Bremsen, 20 Zoll Felgen und eine Tieferlegung runden das LS7 Konzept ab.</p>

Als Basis diente ein getunter Camaro SS welcher jetzt auch das amerikanische E85 Benzin schluckt. Von Au&#223;en betrachtet gibt es das klassische Grau oder Wei&#223;e Farbschema mit 21 Zoll Felgen und einem dicken Spoiler.</p>

Das <strong>Camaro GS Racecar</strong> Konzept dagegen, macht keinen Hehl daraus, dass es in Memoiren an <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Donohue">Mark Donahue</a>&#8216;s blau-gelben Trans Am Series Camaro, konzipiert wurde. Mit einer Motorhaube aus Carbon Fiber Glas, gewichtsreduzierenden Umbauten, einem Tremec 6060 6-Gang Getriebe, dem LS3 V8 Motor, 3 Zoll Auspuffanlage und anderen Extras, ist er gebaut f&#252;r die Rennstrecke.</p>

Zu sehen ist ein Biest in Schwarz, mit einer Mattschwarzen Motorhaube, get&#246;nten Scheiben, Halogenscheinwerfern mit Roten Aussenringen ala BMW, schwarzem Grill und dunklen 21 Zoll Felgen. <p>LAS VEGAS – Chevrolet introduces a quartet of stunning concepts based on the all-new, 2010 Camaro at the 2008 SEMA Show. The concepts join regular-production and accessorized models, along with a dream collection of vintage Camaros – including rare COPO, Indy Pace Car and early Z28 models – to mark the introduction of Chevy&#8217;s re-born sports car. The Camaro is the official car of the 2008 SEMA show.</p>
<p>Each of the concepts represents a different interpretation of the new Camaro&#8217;s performance, styling and personalization possibilities, from no-holds-barred high-performance to carefully crafted, street-savvy customizing.</p>

<p>Made famous by Chevy dealers like Don Yenko and Fred Gibb in the late 1960s, the COPO cars were ordered for one thing: drag racing. They were quickly outfitted after delivery with the requisite tires, safety equipment and other accessories necessary for competition in popular Stock-class drag racing series.</p>

<p>The LS7 Concept honors the COPO ethos with features such as drag strip-ready rubber on the rear wheels – and unlike many of the stripped-down racers from 40 years ago, this strip-ready competitor serves double duty as both a racecar and a daily driver.</p>

<p>The LS7 crate engine (part number 17802397) uses a high-performance replacement camshaft from GM Performance Parts (part number 12480033) to help it produce approximately 550 horsepower. Complementing upgrades include GM Performance Parts-developed headers and air intake system that will be offered at the Camaro&#8217;s launch in early 2009. The LS7 also is modified with a wet-sump oiling system; the production engine features a dry-sump system that requires an external oil tank.</p>
<p>Backing the LS7 engine is a production Tremec 6060 six-speed manual with a GM Performance Parts Hurst shifter. Additional drivetrain details include:</p>

<p>The Camaro LS7 concept is painted Victory Red, with matte black accents on the hood and taillamp panel. &#8220;LS7&#8243; logos are strategically placed and warn those in the know this Camaro means business when the Christmas tree lights count down to green. It&#8217;s all business on the spartan interior, too, with base trim and few accessories to minimize overall mass for a quicker elapsed time.</p>

<p>Although the Camaro LS7 Concept is just that – a concept – its duplication by enterprising enthusiasts and racers is enabled by GM Performance Parts&#8217; LS7 crate engine package. It delivers a fully assembled, production version of the engine, complete from the intake manifold to oil pan. An oil reservoir for the standard dry sump system and GM Performance Parts&#8217; LS7 engine controller (part number 19166567) are all that&#8217;s necessary to get the engine running in an enthusiast&#8217;s project vehicle – well, that and a chassis capable of handling more than 500 lb.-ft. of torque!</p>
<p><strong>Camaro Dale Earnhardt Jr. Concept</strong>: NASCAR star Dale Jr. is fan of vintage Camaros – he cruises around in a Pro Touring-style &#8217;72 Camaro powered by a GM Performance Parts LS crate engine – and the heritage-inspired design of the 2010 Camaro appeals to him like a checkered flag at Daytona. His vision for the car was channeled to GM&#8217;s designers and crafted in a multi-color combination of style, capability and comfort.</p>

<p>They started with a new Camaro SS that uses the standard 6.2L V-8, but modified to use E85. Taking advantage of E85&#8242;s favorable octane rating, the engine was calibrated to deliver a few extra horsepower, with the exhaust exiting through GM Performance Parts&#8217; new headers. It&#8217;s backed by the SS&#8217;s available six-speed manual transmission and GM Accessories&#8217; short-throw Hurst shifter. Additional performance enhancements include a Brembo brake package and a lowered ride height, giving Dale Jr.&#8217;s Camaro a sleeker look to match its road-hugging capability.</p>

<p>A custom gray-over-white paint scheme blends the high-performance drivetrain with serious style. It is accented with an orange stripe separating the gray and white sections. Also generating attention on the exterior is a set of 21-inch, five-spoke wheels inspired by the Camaro Convertible Concept. They feature dark-painted center sections on the spokes that complement the body&#8217;s gray color. The wheels are wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero ZR-rated performance tires.</p>

<p>With the assistance of GM&#8217;s High Performance Vehicle Operations, North Carolina-based Riley Technologies re-created the look and feel of that standout racecar with a tribute that looks, sounds and drives like it&#8217;s ready to do battle with its contemporary pony car competitors. In fact, the heritage-inspired racer is more than concept. It is an early prototype for the Grand Am Koni Challenge GS racing class. Racecars like the GS Concept are offered and manufactured by Riley Technologies for the 2009 Grand-Am season.</p>

<p>The GS Racecar Concept is shown at SEMA just as it was last driven off the track, with the grime, brake dust and body imperfections commensurate with a day&#8217;s worth of racing. Indeed, it isn&#8217;t a car that spent hundreds of hours in a body shop in a quest of sheet metal perfection. It displays the bruises of competition and wears them as badges of honor.</p>
<p>Like Donohue&#8217;s &#8217;69 Camaro racecar, the GS Racecar Concept wears a deep blue paint scheme that is accented with yellow graphics, a yellow-painted interior and yellow racing wheels.</p>
<p><strong>Camaro Black Concept</strong>: It&#8217;s hard to go unnoticed in a 2010 Camaro, but the Camaro Black Concept suggests a stealthy approach to street style. From its matte black-finished hood and ground effects to its dark wheels and red-glowing HID headlamp halo rings, the Camaro Black Concept is a sinister-looking urban tuner vehicle.</p>
