BURBANK, Calif. – February 4, 2008 – NBC and the Ford Motor Company will partner to get viewers rolling with the “Ford ‘Knight Rider’ Giveaway Sweepstakes,” during the action adventure “Knight Rider” movie of the week on Sunday, February 17 (9-11 p.m. ET) when viewers will have the chance to win one of four new boldly designed and high-tech Ford automobiles.

The grand-prize winner will receive a 2008 Ford Shelby GT 500 KR with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $79,995. The first of this highly sought after performance car recently sold at a charity auction for $550,000. In addition, one first-prize recipient will get the keys to a Ford Edge Limited AWD (MSRP $32,070); a second-prize winner will drive away with a Ford Fusion V6 SEL AWD (MSRP $24,385), and a third-prize recipient will receive a Ford Focus SES Sedan (MSRP $16,375). The total (MSRP) estimated value for all four vehicles is approximately $152,825.

The announcement was made today by John Miller, Chief Marketing Officer, NBC Universal Television Group and Robert Parker, Ford Car Group Marketing Manager.

“NBC’s partnership with Ford is a natural fit with ‘Knight Rider,’ since they have provided the KITT cars we are using for this dynamic new version of the classic series,” said John Miller. “Our audience will not only be thrilled by the adrenaline action on screen, but they will have the exciting chance to actively participate in driving away in their own new high-tech Ford vehicle.”

“‘Knight Rider’ is one of the best examples of a car playing a lead role on television and the Ford Shelby GT 500 KR fits the part perfectly,” said Parker. “The partnership with NBC has allowed us to push the creative envelope on screen and now to audience members who have the chance to win their very own Ford.”

The “Ford ‘Knight Rider’ Giveaway Sweepstakes” begins at 8 p.m. (ET) on February 17 during an episode of “American Gladiators” (7-9 p.m. ET), continues with the movie’s broadcast (9-11 p.m. ET) and concludes the next day, Monday, February 18. At four different, pre-determined intervals during the “Knight Rider” broadcast – approximately every 30 minutes – viewers will be invited to participate in the sweepstakes by answering a question pertaining to the movie by going online. Contestants will be directed to the website www.nbc.com/knightrider. A correct answer is not required for an entrant to make an entry into the sweepstakes. There is a limit of four entries per person for the entire sweepstakes period.

Potential winners will be randomly selected from among all eligible entries received in a drawing to be held on or about March 3, 2008. The potential winners will be notified by phone within two weeks of the drawing date (on or about March 17). The sweepstakes is limited to viewers in the 48 contiguous states (thereby excluding Alaska and Hawaii).

“Knight Rider” — NBC’s iconic 1980s television classic that became a runaway success — comes roaring back to life on the network with an updated sequel movie event. Earlier, NBC unveiled the new customized KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand) Ford Mustang to be featured in the series.

NBC’s partnership with Ford Motor Company provides for a unique content opportunity that makes the Ford Mustang one of the stars of the movie. SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Jan. 17, 2008 – A one-of-a-kind 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR will go on the block at this year’s Barrett-Jackson auction: the only “King of the Road” model to feature a full glass roof. Continuing a Ford and Shelby tradition of charitable giving, proceeds from the auction will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

“Barrett-Jackson is an ideal venue to launch and sell Ford’s premier models,” said Robert Parker, Ford car marketing manager. “It’s the ultimate platform for selling the world’s most remarkable cars, and we’ve created a unique GT500KR just for the occasion.”

Barrett-Jackson will feature an unprecedented stable of muscle cars, led by a vintage Mustang from each year in which performance legend Carroll Shelby and Ford Motor Company produced the street-ripping 1960s classics. The highlight of the crop will be Mr. Shelby’s personal 1969 GT500 convertible, followed by a pristine 1967 GT500 originally gifted by Carroll to his son, Mike Shelby.

Muscle car enthusiasts are sure to tune in on SPEED TV this Saturday to watch Ford continue to lead the muscle car wars.

Shelby GT500KR with Glass Roof
The 540-horsepower Shelby GT500KR on the block at Barrett-Jackson is a unique rendition of the most powerful factory-built Mustang ever. Shelby GT500KR production began in Las Vegas on Jan. 11, Carroll Shelby’s 85th birthday. The one-of-one ebony black GT500KR up for auction will feature the same full glass roof that is being offered as an option on the 2009 V-6 Mustang and Mustang GT models only.

The glass roof provides a third roof option for customers and responds to their growing desire for more natural light. The glass is tinted, which reduces both infrared rays and vehicle cool down time by 50 percent. Production of large sunroofs has increased nearly 200 percent in North America since 2003, according to Just-autos.com.

While the Shelby GT500KR coupe features racing stripes over the roof, the unique glass roof on the auction model features stripes etched directly into the glass.

“Barrett-Jackson will be a rare opportunity for one lucky bidder to own a Shelby GT500KR with a glass roof, a car no one else can even buy,” said Carroll Shelby. “It’s been too long, but I’m very excited to have the ‘King of the Road’ back.”

Patrick Dempsey’s Ford Mustang FR500C on the Block Saturday
In another exciting development, Ford Racing and Patrick Dempsey, the star of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” also will auction the actor’s No. 156 2005 Ford Mustang FR500C.

Dempsey drove the car in the 2007 Grand-Am KONI Challenge series for Hyper Sport Racing, a team he co-owns. Since its debut in 2005, the Mustang FR500C has earned seven poles, 10 wins, 92 top ten finishes and 25 podium appearances. Featuring a Ford Racing 5.0-liter Cammer R50 engine, it continues to be the road racing car of choice.

Dempsey will be on stage as bidders vie for this unique race Mustang. The winning bidder also will also receive a helmet, gloves, shoes, hero card and DVD box set of the third season of “Grey’s Anatomy” signed by Dempsey. In addition, the winner will enjoy a track day with Hyper Sport Racing and a day for two at the Ford Racing High Performance Driving School at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT.

Ford Exhibit Celebrates Speed
Building on a valued partnership, Ford plans to remain a key automotive sponsor of The Barrett-Jackson Auction series as a third venue is added in Las Vegas this October. As part of this sponsorship, Ford will bring interactive elements to Barrett-Jackson, including a drifting track, racing simulators and a dyno-simulated drag racing display.

This year, Ford will add a life-size Mustang collector’s display which showcases a ‘Steed for Every Need,’ along with a new “Built Ford Tough” tent that houses Ford’s feature vehicles. During the past three years, Ford and Carroll Shelby have raised more than $1.7 million dollars for charity. Last year, the first 2007 Shelby GT Mustang was auctioned off at a winning big of $600,000. In 2006, an early production 2007 Shelby GT500 also sold for $600,000.

When Jack Roush pulled off the cover and unveiled the new 510-horsepower ROUSH P-51A Mustang at the SEMA Show in October, it took just moments before the telephones started ringing at the offices with dealers and consumers clamoring to get hold of the muscle car.

Although the ROUSH order bank isn’t scheduled to open to authorized Ford dealers with final pricing until January, 2008, the post-announcement interest was enough for ROUSH management to re-assess the total number of ROUSH P-51A Mustangs that will be released to the public. Consequently, ROUSH Performance has decided to increase the production run to 151 units when these start build, anticipated to be the first quarter of 2008. It was previously announced that the production volume would be limited to 100 units.

“Certainly we anticipated that the ROUSH P-51A Mustang would be a popular car and sell quickly to our dealer base,” said Joe Thompson, general manager of ROUSH Performance. “But I must say that we were a little surprised at just how fast the demand grew for this car so we worked with our suppliers to make ensure that an increased volume would be possible and can now announce that there will be 151 vehicles produced next year.”

The ROUSH P-51A is easily the highest horsepower Mustang that the company has ever produced, and represents the first time that internal engine components have been upgraded by ROUSH technicians in their Livonia, Mich., facility. The stock Ford 4.6L, 3V engine will see a rebuild of several of the functional internal components, including a forged steel eight-bolt crankshaft, forged aluminum pistons with increased dish to lower the compression from 9:8 to 8:6, and forged steel H-Beam connecting rods. These upgraded parts were necessary for the stock Ford engine (which comes with 300 horsepower from the factory) to be able to withstand the additional power generated from the newest iteration of the legendary ROUSHcharger* supercharger system.

Additional alterations include a custom aluminum upper and lower intake manifold for the high capacity air-to-water intercooler and ROUSHcharger*. ROUSH installs a custom fuel rail and high-flow fuel injectors, a high-flow capacity fuel system, as well as a dual electronic throttle body.

The new ROUSH P-51A engine has a preliminary rating of at least 510 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. torque. It is anticipated that final figures may even be slightly higher than this when final testing and calibration is approved by the ROUSH engineering staff. As with all ROUSH vehicles, the P-51A will carry an industry-leading 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.

But when men attempt to abduct her, Sarah receives a mysterious call from KITT warning her that he’s a creation of Charles, who also invented the first KITT 25 years ago — and that her father is in serious danger.

Sarah and KITT track down her best friend from childhood, Mike Tracer (Bruening), a 23-year-old ex-Army Ranger, whom Sarah hasn’t seen since he left home at 18. Having served in Iraq, Mike is now jaded and lost and initially resistant. Eventually he agrees to help Sarah and the two set out to discover who’s behind the attempt to procure KITT and find Charles. Along the way, Carrie Rivai (Poitier) plays the agile yet tough FBI agent who has a long-standing friendship with Charles and Sarah. Due to those ties, she is brought into the mix to help in the search.

David Andron is supervising producer and writer. Steve Shill (“Dexter,” “The Tudors”), also a co-executive producer, directs the two-hour movie from Universal Media Studios and Dutch Oven Productions.
