Bereits in der letzten Woche veröffentlichten die Gorillaz ihr neues Musikvideo welches mit ein paar netten Muscle Cars aufwarten kann. Ihr neues Album wird den Namen Plastic Beach tragen und die erste Auskopplung daraus ist Stylo. Zu sehen ist ein 1969iger Chevrolet Camaro SS, gefahren von den Gorillaz und ein 1968iger Chevrolet El Camino, gefahren von niemand anderen als Bruce Willis himself. Bereits in der letzten Woche hat ein User des Camaro5 Forums berichtet, dass im GM Werk von Oshawa/Kanada bereits der 100.000’ste Chevrolet Camaro vom Band lief. Dieser Camaro ist ein inferno orange SS Modell. Damit ist kurz vor dem einjährigen Jubiläum des Camaros, am 16. März, diese magische Grenze gefallen.

Am Mittwoch präsentierte General Motors erstmals den 2010 Chevrolet Camaro offiziell in den arabischen Ländern. Der Verkauf des 300 PS starken LT Modells mit V6 Motor und dem 422 PS leistenden Camaro SS mit V8 Motor, wird später im Sommer starten. “Der neue Camaro hat das Aussehen, die Performance und die Technologien welche die Käufer des mittleren Ostens erwarten”, so Michael Devereux, Präsident von General Motors im mittleren Osten. Chevrolet Launches All-New Camaro in Middle East

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – The all-new Chevrolet Camaro has taken North America by storm and is set to expand Chevy’s global appeal with its launch in the Middle East later this summer.

Michael Devereux, President of GM Middle East, said, “The all-new Camaro delivers the great looks, performance and technology that Middle East buyers expect in a modern sports car. Enthusiasts in the region started booking their cars months ago, and we expect our allocation of this iconic vehicle to sell out very quickly.”

Built on GM’s new, global rear-wheel-drive architecture, the Middle East version of the Camaro is offered in a V-6-powered LT model and a V-8-powered SS version.

All models and powertrain combinations are matched with fuel-saving six-speed transmissions. Advanced technologies, including engines with direct injection and Active Fuel Management, enable a satisfying balance of exhilarating performance and good fuel economy.

Under the hood, Camaro LT uses a 3.6L engine with variable valve timing to optimize performance and fuel economy. LT models are estimated at 29 mpg in highway driving, for great fuel economy to complement their fun driving experience. The high-performance Camaro SS is equipped with a powerful 6.2L V-8, with a choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

Via Konfigurator ist es jetzt kinderleicht zwischen den Modellen zu wechseln, so beginnt der Camaro LS bei einem Preis von 22.995 Dollar, dazu vielleicht ein paar schwarze Felgen oder ein Sonnendach? Bereits in der letzten Woche angekündigt, der neue Chervolet Camaro wird offizielles Pacecar der Daytona 500, nun Live und in Farbe. Nachdem in den letzten zwei Jahren die Corvette diese Position für sich sichern konnte, wird in diesem Jahr der Camaro SS für Sicherheit sorgen und beim 51. Start von Daytona 500 in der ersten Reihe stehen. Damit ist erstmals seit 1969 wieder ein Camaro Pacecar am Start. Angetriben wird das gute Stück von einem 6,2L V8 welcher 426 PS auf die Straße bringt. Und schick ausschauen tut er auch noch mit seinem Cyber Grau und dem orangenen Farbschema, welches von PPG entwickelt wurde.

Chevy Camaro Returns as Official Pace Car for 51st Daytona 500; Iconic 2010 Model Returns to the “Great American Race” After 40-Year Absence

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Feb. 7, 2009) — Daytona International Speedway officials announced the return of the Chevy Camaro as the Official Pace Car of the 51st running of the Daytona 500–the first Camaro to pace the field since 1969.

“Chevy has been a great partner of the Daytona 500 for more than 30 years, and the Camaro is an automotive icon,’” said Speedway President Robin Braig. “This 2010 model will set the tone for a 21st century sports car, and that’s a perfect fit to lead the pack at the ‘Great American Race.”

The 426-horsepower vehicle, powered by the 6.2-liter all-aluminum Chevy V-8, carries a PPG Cyber Grey paint scheme with a bold accent design befitting “The World Center of Racing.” A Camaro has paced the field just twice in Dayton 500 history, in 1968 and ‘69, and this 2010 model is scheduled to hit showroom floors this spring.

Built on GM’s new global rear-wheel drive architecture, the Camaro also will be offered in V-6-powered LS and LT models. Additional specs of the 2010 model pace car include:

All-aluminum 6.2-liter V-8

426 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque

Fully integrated strobe system, including a GM-designed custom light bar utilizing Whelen 500 series linear strobes

27-mpg estimated highway fuel economy

General Motors hat gestern den Händlern bekannt gegeben, das sich der geplante Auslieferungstermin um einen Monat verschieben wird. Somit wird die Produktion voraussichtlich am Montag, dem 16.März, beginnen! Als Grund dafür, werden die hohen Qualitätsansprüche genannt, bei neuen GM Produkten und nicht die derzeitige Krise. Die 10000 vorbestellten Modelle, werden laut GM bis Oktober 2009 fertiggestellt und ausgeliefert sein.

Nickey Chicago 2010 Camaro SS mit 700 PS

Viele Informationen gibt es noch nicht, jedoch hat der Camaro Tuner Nickey Chicaco, aus St. Charles (IL), mehrere Camaro SS Pakete angekündigt. Von Stage I bis Stage III werden unterschiedliche Stufen angeboten, welche alle auf den LS3 basieren werden. Stage I ist dabei das kleinste Paket, genauere Informationen gibt es dazu noch nicht. Bei Stage II wird der Motor des LS3 komplett überarbeitet und mit der großen Stage III Variante bekommt man dann einen neuen LS7 Motor mit 427cui verbaut, welcher 700 PS leisten soll.

Stage I: Mild Modifications to the Stock LS3
Stage II: Completely reworked LS3, (Stock V8 used in the Camaro).
Stage III: This is a complete new/different LS7 427ci transplant.

We are proud to be offering 2010 Nickey Camaros, based on the 5th Generation Platform.

All of the details are not set in stone, at this time, as this is a work in progress.

However; We do have most of the details for the Stage I, Stage II and Stage III Conversion Packages dialed in.

We have established a Dealer Network, in order to fulfill Customer Orders, in one of two ways.

We have dealers who feel confident that they will promptly receive Camaro inventory for Stock; Method One, will be from off their showroom Floors.

These dealers will at some point, in the future have Nickey Camaros in stock and ready for delivery.

The second Method is that you will be able to place a SOLD order, through one of these Dealers and then have your car built to your specs, off the Nickey Option Sheets.

We will be anouncing all the participating Network Dealers and will also list the specs and pricing, as soon as we have them available.

Im Camro5 Forum wurde bekannt gegeben, dass bis jetzt bereits 6000 vorverkaufte Camaros über den Ladentisch gegangen sind. Dies ist der Stand vom 27. Oktober, darunter teilen sich die Bestellungen wie folgt auf.

Nur noch wenige Monate dann steht der neue Camaro endlich zum Verkauf in den Läden. Wer nach der Finanzkrise noch Geld übrig hat, für den ist jetzt die erste inoffizielle Ausstattungsliste des neuen Chevrolet Camaro, im Netz aufgetaucht. Den Camaro wird es in 5 unterschiedlichen Ausstattungsmerkmalen geben, zudem zählt die LS, 1LT, 2LT, 1SS und 2SS Version. Die Basisversion LS kommt mit 18 Zoll Felgen und einem 300 PS V6 Motor und den optionalen Fußmatten. Der 1LT erhält 19 Zoll Felgen, ein Boston Acoustics Sound System und ein Sonnendach. Die 2LT Version zusätzlich Ledersitze, Ambientlicht, Bluetooth und USB Anschlüsse. Erst ab der SS Version wirds wohl für echte Fans erst interessant, denn nur mit dieser Version erhählt man den 422 PS starken V8. Die 1SS Version wird mit 20 Zoll Felgen, Brembo Bremsen, anderem Differenzial sowie geänderter Motor und Getriebe Kühlung ausgeliefert. Die 2SS Version besteht aus der 1SS Version und der 2LT, sowie zusätzlich optionale Rallystreifen, ein Glasdach und die Inferno Orange Accent Innenausstattung. Alle LT und SS Versionen können zusätzlich das RS Paket beinhalten, welches aus 20 Zoll Felgen, Xenonscheinwerfern, einem Spoiler (für das LT Model) und zusätzlichen Farbkombis besteht.
