2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 mit 6.4L HEMI

Nun ja, es scheint fast so als würde Chrysler nun doch noch an einem neuen HEMI arbeiten, denn bereits im Juni sind erste Details zum 6.4L HEMI V8 Motors des kommenden 2011er Dodge Challenger SRT8 im Netz aufgetaucht. Demnach ersetzt dieser den bisherigen 6.1L V8 und wird auch in kommenden SRT Modellen zum Einsatz kommen. Als spezielles Feature wird der neue HEMI über automatisch abschaltende Zylinder verfügen, was dem Verbrauch sehr zu Gute kommen wird. Dabei will man natürlich auf ein mehr an Leistung nicht unbedingt verzichten und so wird der neue 6.4L HEMI es auf 480 PS bringen! Was eine Leistungssteigerung von 55 PS entspricht, gegenüber dem aktuellen Challenger. Auch neu im Challenger wird eine komplett überarbeitete Innenausstattung sein mit besseren Materialien wie man sie bereits aus anderen Modellen ala 2011er Ford Mustang kennt. Ein neues Navigationssystem aus dem Hause Garmin ist jetzt ebenso onboard. Für die kleineren Modelle gibt es ebenso Neuigkeiten, so wird die SE Version mit V6 Motor eine Leistungssteigerung auf 290 PS erfahren und der Challenger in der R/T Variante mit dem kleinen V8 Motor, 375 PS leisten.

Wer kennt sie nicht, die mehr als erfolgreiche, amerikanische TV Serie Overhaulin mit dem begnadeten Chip Foose. Immer wieder stehen dort gebaute Fahrzeuge im Internet zum Verkauf, nun auch dieser, in der 2ten Staffel – Folge 8 gebaute, 1971 Dodge Challenger. Er wurde mit einem neuen 440cui V8 versehen, hat ein 727 Getribe an einer nagelneuen Magnaflow Auspuffanlage. Dazu gibt es natürlich Foose Felgen mit BF Goodrich Reifen, eine Baer Bremsanlage und einem Kicker Hifi System. Veredelt wurde der Motor mit Edelbrock und Holley Teilen, die Elektronik kommt von MSD. Das Fahrzeug wurde seit der Sendung nur 800 Meilen bewegt und für einen Sofortkaufpreis von 1005.000 Dollar, kann er vielleicht bald Dir gehören. Hier gehts zur Auktion auf Ebay.

Der “G5 Posey Challenger” ist ein custom Projekt, gebaut als Erinnerung und als Homage an Sam Posey’s #77 T/A Challenger und dessen Erfolge in der Dodge und Trans Am Renngeschichte. Posey neuer 2008er Challenger wurde gebaut von Group Five, wird geziert von einem netten Psycho-Sublime Grün mit schwarzen Akzenten. Dazu gibt es ein neues Fahrwerk und natürlich ein Performance Upgrade mit Vortech Kompressor und insgesamt über 500 PS an Leistung. 19-Zoll Fikse Felgen mit Reifen der Marke Toyo, Katzkin Ledersitze, einen Überrollkäfig und eine Eibach Tieferlegung sind ebenso in diesem Schmuckstück verbaut. Im Vergangenen Jahr wurde dieser Challenger erfolgreich beim 24 Stunden Rennen von Lemans eingesetzt und im Jahre 2008 auf der SEMA vorgestellt. Dodge kündigt neues 2010 Challenger Drag Paket an, 2009er bereits ausverkauft

Letztes Jahr veröffentlichte Mopar für den aktuellen Dodge Challenger ein Drag Paket welches bereits nach kurzer Zeit komplett ausverkauft war, vielleicht auch weil dieses Paket auf 100 Stück limitiert wurde. Nun legt Mopar nach und kündigt für das neue Jahr ein noch besseres, wiederum auf 100 Stück limitiert, an. Für 39.999 Dollar Aufpreis kann man sein 6.1L Hemi V8 komplett für die NHRA Stock, Super Stock oder Com Eliminator Klasse, umbauen lassen. Dies wahlweise mit 5-Gang Automatik oder 6-Gang manuellem Schaltgetriebe. Mittels Drag Paket und in der Stock Eliminator Variante wird der 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8 dann auch um ganze 450kg leichter als die 1450kg schwere Straßenversion. Zur Erinnerung sei noch einmal gesagt das dieser Challenger nicht für die Straße zugelassen ist und rein für die Rennstrecke konzipiert ist.

Auburn Hills, Mich., Feb 22, 2010 – Following a first-year sell out of 100 factory-built program vehicles in 2009, Mopar announced its 2010 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak program.

For 2010, the non-street legal V-8 powered, rear-wheel drive Dodge Challenger is available with the 6.1 liter HEMI® that may be set up with a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission.

“We’re proud of our drag racing heritage at Mopar and we will continue to support our drag-race customers where they compete,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and Chief Executive Officer – Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care, Chrysler Group LLC. “The Dodge Challenger Drag Pak program was a success last year, and we’ll be carrying that momentum into our 2010 build.”

Based on the 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8® and finished in a Stock Eliminator configuration, Mopar engineers eliminated select production components and systems to reduce vehicle weight by approximately 1,000 pounds. To accentuate weight savings, the Dodge Challenger Drag Pak features unique drag-race components including: composite lift-off hood with functional scoop, Dodge Viper-style front seats, polycarbonate door windows, a light-weight cooling module with electric fan, manual rack-and-pinion steering, a special cable-operated deck-lid release, special light-weight front-brake assemblies and special cable-operated throttle linkage and pedal assembly.

The Dodge Challenger Drag Pak features a retro Stone White paint scheme and is sanctioned for NHRA Stock, Super Stock and Comp Eliminator drag racing. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price is $39,999 and production begins this summer.

The 2009 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak program commemorated the 40th anniversary of the legendary 1968 Dodge Hemi Dart and Plymouth Hemi Barracuda package cars. The ’68 Package Cars were sold as actual running cars with VIN identification. The 2009 and 2010 Package Cars are not running cars and do not come with VIN identification.

SpeedFactory 426 Charger Again Sets World Record Quarter Mile Time for Chrysler LX/LC Platform Vehicles

Atlanta, GA, January 27, 2010 – On January 23, 2010, SpeedFactory’s 426 Charger completed the quarter mile in 9.453 seconds with a trap speed of 145.38 mph at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, Georgia. According to records kept by the LXForums.com moderators, SpeedFactory bested all previous quarter mile times set by actual production LX/LC-platform cars-modern Dodge Chargers, Challengers, Magnums and Chrysler 300Cs. SpeedFactory driver Eddie Rosa piloted the Charger.

SpeedFactory, in collaboration with partners Landmark Dodge Chrysler Jeep, Vortech Superchargers and Paramount Performance, built this car from a 2006 Dodge Charger platform utilizing a unique combination of heavily modified stock components. The SpeedFactory R&D (Research and Development) Charger is a test platform for high horsepower technology destined to power SpeedFactory’s production vehicles.

A GEN III 426 HEMI stroker motor is boosted by a Vortech centrifugal-style V-7 YSi-trim supercharger and is controlled through factory electronics, producing over 900 HP. The car retains modified factory components: transmission, IRS differential with 1000HP half shafts, suspension and shocks. A curb weight of 3,750 pounds was achieved by removing the interior.

2010 Dodge Viper ACR-X fertig für die Rennstrecke

Die Dodge Viper ist ein echter Sportwagen und Sportwagen wollen natürlich auch mal auf die Rennstrecke. Dodge hat nun ein Sondermodell angekündigt, welches zusammen mit den Entwicklern von SRT rein für die Rennstrecke konzipiert ist, die Dodge Viper ACR-X. Mit zusätzlicher Leistung gegenüber dem Serienmodell, heißt es nun Schlüssel reinstecken und ab auf die Rennstrecke, ready to race und das ganze für günstige 110.000 Dollar! 640PS (40PS mehr als die normale Viper) werden durch neue Rennköpfe und einer neuen Auspuffanlage aus dem Serien 8.4L V10 Motor geholt. Natürlich wurde auch das komplette Fahrwerk an die Rennstrecke angepasst und optimiert. Der Downforce (Anpressdruck) wurde mit zusätzlichen Spoilern und diversen Bauteilen erhöht. Außerdem hat sie 73kg an Gewicht verloren, einen Überrollkäfig und Rennsitze spendiert bekommen. Orlando, Fla., Dec 10, 2009 – Dodge today pulled the cover off the newest special-edition model of the 2010 Viper SRT10 lineup. The Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR-X is a turn-key, non-street legal race car that is slated to make its on-track debut in the summer of 2010.

“The Dodge Viper ACR-X takes the performance attributes of Viper to an even higher level for a wide range of drivers starting with the grassroots racer all the way up to the professional,” said Ralph Gilles, President and CEO, Dodge Brand. “This project is a result of many years of performance engineering expertise from our SRT team, combined with the passion and dedication of Viper Nation, to keep the Viper racing tradition going strong on tracks around the country and the world.”

Combining the best performance attributes of the record-setting, street-legal Dodge Viper ACR (American Club Racer) and the safety equipment of championship-winning Viper Competition Coupe, the Viper ACR-X is powered by the SRT-developed 8.4-liter V10, equipped with factory headers and a low-restriction exhaust system, that produces 640 horsepower (40 more than production model).

The suspension also is tuned and upgraded specifically for on-track usage, while the weight is lightened by a full 160 pounds (versus the standard production Viper) to take on even the most challenging road course. Additional aerodynamic upgrades improve downforce, while enhancing stability and significantly improving grip in high-speed cornering.

Similar to the Dodge Viper Competition Coupe, the Viper ACR-X contains factory-installed safety equipment such as a factory-designed roll cage, fuel cell and race seat. Additional racing components are added to meet the significant durability and reliability requirements for on-track competition.

In what will be the final year of production for the current generation Viper, the ACR-X is the third limited, special-edition model to be introduced by Dodge. “”We’re going to make 2010 the most exciting year for Viper yet with specially developed cars for the street and the track,” added Gilles. “The ACR-X is targeted at road-racing enthusiasts who want to successfully compete in our ultimate American sports car.”

Last month, the SRT team used a testing session at Laguna Seca raceway to shake down the Viper ACR-X for the first time. Behind the wheel was professional driver Kuno Wittmer from the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Championship series, who was able to run consistent 1:31.00 lap times around the 2.238-mile, 11-turn course. Wittmer’s lap times were more than 3 seconds faster than the street-legal Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR that holds the production car track record at Laguna Seca raceway.

“The Dodge Viper ACR-X is incredible,” said Wittmer. “After a short warm up, I was running lap times as quick as exotic GT race cars. I was blown away by the power and acceleration, and even more surprised at how the ACR-X navigated the challenging Laguna Seca corners and how friendly it was to drive at the limit.

“All aspects of the car work together perfectly to plant all that horsepower and torque without issue,” Wittmer added. “This will be a great package for someone coming out of grassroots racing with a desire to step-up to GT level competition. Dodge nailed it with this one!”

The Viper SRT10 ACR-X is designed to compete in the Viper Racing League, Sports Car Club of America and National Auto Sport Association events.

Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR-X will be approximately $110,000. Production is slated to begin in Spring 2010.

Dodge Viper Cup:

The Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR-X will make its on-track debut in July 2010 in a newly developed spec series called the Dodge Viper Cup, which will be sanctioned by the existing Viper Racing League. Each vehicle in the new series must be the new Viper ACR-X.

Two races per weekend for five weekends will make up the 10-race 2010 Dodge Viper Cup schedule which includes July 9-11 at Virginia International Raceway; August 14-15 at Hallett Raceway; September 11-12 at Pocono Raceway; October 1-3 at Miller Motorsports Park and October 22-24 at Daytona International Speedway.

A contingency program sponsored by Dodge Motorsports and Mopar will pay out more than $200,000 during 2010. Payouts for each race are in cash and Mopar vouchers come as credit toward purchase of Mopar parts and accessories.

Viper Racing Heritage:

The Dodge Viper has enjoyed a successful racing heritage that began in 1996 with the original Viper racing entry, the GTS-R, which earned five international GT championships and the 1997-1999 FIA GT championships. It also posted an amazing overall win at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in 1999 – the first for a production-based American car.

The Dodge Viper Competition Coupe, introduced in 2003, delivered the next chapter with its coupe-shaped carbon/Kevlar body and a track-ready chassis, based on the Dodge Viper SRT10. The Viper Competition Coupe has continued the on-track prowess by capturing the 2004 SCCA Speed World Challenge GT title, championships in Formula D Drifting series in 2004 and 2006 and the British GT Championship in 2007 and 2008.
