Heute Abend um 20:30 läuft das erste Fussballmatch der WM zwischen den USA und England, passend dazu hat Dodge in Amerika einen neuen Werbefilm veröffentlicht für den 2010 Dodge Challenger. Der Werbefilm trägt den Namen “Freiheit”.

Dodge kündigt neues 2010 Challenger Drag Paket an, 2009er bereits ausverkauft

Letztes Jahr veröffentlichte Mopar für den aktuellen Dodge Challenger ein Drag Paket welches bereits nach kurzer Zeit komplett ausverkauft war, vielleicht auch weil dieses Paket auf 100 Stück limitiert wurde. Nun legt Mopar nach und kündigt für das neue Jahr ein noch besseres, wiederum auf 100 Stück limitiert, an. Für 39.999 Dollar Aufpreis kann man sein 6.1L Hemi V8 komplett für die NHRA Stock, Super Stock oder Com Eliminator Klasse, umbauen lassen. Dies wahlweise mit 5-Gang Automatik oder 6-Gang manuellem Schaltgetriebe. Mittels Drag Paket und in der Stock Eliminator Variante wird der 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8 dann auch um ganze 450kg leichter als die 1450kg schwere Straßenversion. Zur Erinnerung sei noch einmal gesagt das dieser Challenger nicht für die Straße zugelassen ist und rein für die Rennstrecke konzipiert ist.

Auburn Hills, Mich., Feb 22, 2010 – Following a first-year sell out of 100 factory-built program vehicles in 2009, Mopar announced its 2010 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak program.

For 2010, the non-street legal V-8 powered, rear-wheel drive Dodge Challenger is available with the 6.1 liter HEMI® that may be set up with a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission.

“We’re proud of our drag racing heritage at Mopar and we will continue to support our drag-race customers where they compete,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and Chief Executive Officer – Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care, Chrysler Group LLC. “The Dodge Challenger Drag Pak program was a success last year, and we’ll be carrying that momentum into our 2010 build.”

Based on the 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8® and finished in a Stock Eliminator configuration, Mopar engineers eliminated select production components and systems to reduce vehicle weight by approximately 1,000 pounds. To accentuate weight savings, the Dodge Challenger Drag Pak features unique drag-race components including: composite lift-off hood with functional scoop, Dodge Viper-style front seats, polycarbonate door windows, a light-weight cooling module with electric fan, manual rack-and-pinion steering, a special cable-operated deck-lid release, special light-weight front-brake assemblies and special cable-operated throttle linkage and pedal assembly.

The Dodge Challenger Drag Pak features a retro Stone White paint scheme and is sanctioned for NHRA Stock, Super Stock and Comp Eliminator drag racing. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price is $39,999 and production begins this summer.

The 2009 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak program commemorated the 40th anniversary of the legendary 1968 Dodge Hemi Dart and Plymouth Hemi Barracuda package cars. The ’68 Package Cars were sold as actual running cars with VIN identification. The 2009 and 2010 Package Cars are not running cars and do not come with VIN identification.

Orders for the 2010 Challenger Drag Pak must be submitted using the Dodge Challenger Drag Pak Application which is available now at www.mopar.com or from the Mopar Direct Connection Tech Line at 888-528-HEMI (4363). Customers should work with their local Dodge dealer to submit their application.

Ebay: West Coast Customs Dodge Challenger Wide Body Convertible

Vor ein paar Tagen wurde in der amerikanischen Fernsehshow “Street Customs” des Senders TLC, ein wide-body Dodge Challenger Convertible von den Jungs, von West Coast Customs, aufgebaut, wir berichteten! Nun steht dieser vom Besitzer, dem Mitinhaber von Towbin Dodge, Josh “Chop” Towbin auf Ebay zum Verkauf! Nur mehr einen Tage ist zum mitbieten Zeit. Der derzeitige Auktionspreis liegt bei knapp über 50.000 Dollar. Zum Vergleich, der Aufbau soll ganze 85.000 Dollar verschlungen haben. Zum einen wurde dem Dodge Challenger R/T ein Cabrio-Faltdach spendiert, sowie ein Wide-Body-Kit und nagelneue Asanti 24 und 26-Zoll Felgen. Ebenso gabs eine Mopar T/A Motorhaube, ein Plok Audio System, neues Interior und ein sportlicheres Fahrwerk.

Das Team um West Coast Customs, bekannt aus MTVs Pimp my Ride, ist derzeit mehr als Erfolgreich mit neuer Fernsehshow “Street Customs” im armerikanischen TLC Sender unterwegs. In der heutige Episode bauen die Jungs einen one-of-a-kind wide-body Dodge Challenger Convertible für Josh “Chop” Towbin. Towbin ist Mitinhaber von Towbin Dodge und ist der Star von “King of Cars“, einer erfolgreichen Fernsehshow. SEMA2008: Dodge Challenger Blacktop

Zusätzlich zum Challenger SRT-10 und Targa, wird es den Dodge Challenger Blacktop auf der SEMA zu sehen geben. Dieser, ebenfalls in Zusammenarbeit mit Mopar entwickelte Challenger, wird mit dem standard 5.7L V8 aus dem SRT-8 zu sehen sein. Hauptfokus liegt hier beim Stil des Fahrzeuges. So wird es neben den Scharz auf Schwarz Rallystreifen, einen anderen Heckspoiler und Frontschürze geben. Mopar setzt zudem 22 Zoll Felgen aus der Viper ein, welche von Factory Reproductions hergestellt wurden und die 265/35/R22 (vorn) und 305/30/R22 (hinten) Dunlop Reifen, halten. Eine schwarze Auspuffanlage und ein neuer Lufteinlass, sind die einzigen Modifikationen am Motor.

Dodge Challenger Blacktop
A menacing creation from the minds of the Mopar Underground design team. The Dodge Challenger Blacktop began life as a 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T equipped with a 5.7-liter HEMIÂ® V-8 and six-speed manual transmission. Mopar Underground added custom-made spoilers and front brow. To finish off the look, a black-on-black racing stripe paint scheme was added. The “in the weeds” stance and superb handling characteristics are accomplished by the Mopar coil-over suspension and strut tower brace. Blacktop rolls on massive 22-inch Dodge Viper wheels from Factory Reproductions wrapped in Dunlop tires measuring 265/35 R22 front and 305/30 R22 rear. To ensure the powertrain can keep up with the suspension, underhood performance is enhanced. The addition of Mopar components, including a cat back dual-exhaust, cold air intake, allow the HEMI V-8 to breathe easy. The interior has been enhanced with Katzkin leather seating finished in bright red plus a Mopar Kicker audio system for premium sound.

SEMA2008: Dodge Mopar Challenger Targa

Nicht nur der Dodge Challenger SRT-10 wird von Dodge auf der diesjährigen SEMA gezeigt, sondern auch der Challenger Targa. Dieser ist angelegt an das Targa Newfoundland Rennen, was im September dieses Jahres in Nord Amerika stattgefunden hat. Wie Dodge mitteilte begann dieses Projekt mit dem Namen “Samantha”, als Mopar Challenger Drag Racing Fahrzeug mit einem 392 HEMI V8 Austauschmotor, welcher 540 PS bei 664 Nm Drehmoment entwickelt. Das ganze zusammen mit der Tremec 6 Gang Schaltung und einem veränderten Differenzial an der Hinterachse. Die grüne Farbe des Targa’s ist dabei von der Viper übernommen worden. Das Paket wird durch ein Rennfahrwerk aus dem Hause KW und neuen Bremsen, welche beides aus der Dodge Viper ACR stammen, abgerundet.

Dodge Challenger Targa
The Dodge Challenger Targa is a full-blown competition car that raced and completed the infamous Targa Newfoundland race this year. “Samantha” started life as a Mopar Challenger drag race package car. Many features were borrowed from the Dodge Viper, but the most noticeable is the snakeskin green paint. To keep the front end down, a Mopar chin spoiler “Splats” developed in a full scale wind tunnel, was added to the front of the car. Mopar gauges keep a close eye on the vital signs. The Mopar hood is equipped with a scoop to make room for the 540-horsepower, 490 lb. ft. of torque, 392 HEMIÂ® V-8 Mopar crate motor. Mated to a Tremec six-speed manual gearbox, the engine blasts power to the rear wheels through a production 2009 modified gear ratio in the rear end. An abundance of fade resistant stopping power comes from Stop-Tech brakes. Up front, the six-piston calipers clamp 380-millimetre rotors, while in the rear, four-pot calipers work with 355-mm rotors. Developed by KW, the race suspension and brake upgrades came from a proven hero – the Dodge Viper ACR, which just broke the production car lap record at the world-renown Nurburgring in Germany. With only a few exceptions, the Dodge Challenger Targa was built using parts available through Mopar.

Mopar hat soeben genaue Details veröffentlich, wie man ab sofort sich das Dodge Challenger Super Stock Drag Racing Paket sichern, bzw. bestellen kann! Dabei will Mopar sicherstellen, dass nur qualifizierte Fahrer dieses Paket erhalten und dieses auch nutzen! Wie überall gilt auch hier, wer zuerst kommt, malt zuerst, denn die Stückzahl ist auf 100 Fahrzeuge begrenzt! Dabei muß man zuerst eine art Antrag bei einem Dodge Händler stellen, dieser faxt diesen dann an Mopar Motorsports. Potenzielle Käufer müssen bereits eine Lizenz zum Drag Racing Fahrer besitzen oder aber vergleichbares vorweisen können! Mopar will damit sicherstellen, dass sich die Arbeit, welche sie in das Drag Paket stecken, auch wirklich lohnt. Ausserdem will man verhindern, dass Sammler dieses Model in ihr Eigentum bekommen um möglichst große Gewinne damit, in Zukunft, einzufahren. Die Gewinnmage bei einem Wiederverkauf ist bewusst gering gehalten damit und tendiert gegen null. Niemand soll also einen brandneuen Challenger in Zukunft verkaufen können.

ORDERING GUIDELINES
The following guidelines are published for customers intending to purchase a MoparÂ® Dodge Challenger
Drag Pak vehicle. Potential customers are required to submit their application in writing. All orders will be reviewed by Mopar prior to allocating vehicles to potential customers.

1. Customers interested in purchasing a 2009 Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak vehicle must fill out a specific application form that will be available on Mopar.com the week of September 8, 2008.
Technical questions can be answered at the Mopar Motorsports tech line: (888)-960-3333.

2. Completed application forms must be submitted to your Dodge, Chrysler or JeepÂ® dealer who will sign and FAX the application to Mopar Motorsports.

3. Orders will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis. It is recommended that the buyer request a FAX confirmation from the dealer to make sure the order has been received and to establish the date/time of order submission.

4. It is recommended that the owner and/or driver have a current Competition License or sanctioning body affiliation prior to ordering their vehicle.

5. The buyer is encouraged to have the Challenger Drag Pak vehicle in competition within a reasonable amount of time.

6. Customers are advised to provide complete contact information in case follow up is required by Mopar Motorsports.

7. Customers are responsible for picking up their Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak vehicle at the build facility in the Detroit area.

Das Team von Mopar Underground bastelt derzeit an einem 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T, welcher basierend auf dem 1970 Challenger T/A, umgestaltet wird und auf der diesjährigen SEMA 2008 sein Debüt feiert. Was ihnen jetzt noch fehlt ist ein Name für das gute Stück! Automobile hilft dabei und hat erste Fotos vom Entstehungsprozess veröffentlicht. Gute Namensvorschläge sind gerne gesehen und werden ab sofort entgegengenommen.
