Endlich ist es so weit und Roush präsentierte heute in Livonia, MI, den neuen 2010 Fort Mustang 427R! Er basiert auf dem Standard 2010 Mustang V8, welcher jetzt 435 PS bei 542 Nm Drehmoment leistet. Dies erzielt Roush dank Kompressorumbau, einem neuen Einspritzsystem und einer verbesserten Kühlung. Das Exterior wertet Roush mit diversen Schwellern, Front- und drei geteilten Heckspoiler, 18-Zoll Felgen (20-Zoll optional) und den von Roush bekannten Decals auf. The ROUSH 2010 427R™ Mustang will be the first in the lineup of new ROUSH® 2010 Mustangs to have a ROUSHcharger® installed which boosts the horsepower to 435 and offers 400 lb.-ft. of torque. This is the first time that ROUSH has been able to offer a supercharged vehicle at the launch of a new body style.

Under the hood customers will see many differences in the ROUSH 2010 427R Mustang compared to previous years. One of the biggest changes is that the long air induction tube that wrapped around the engine was eliminated making a much cleaner appearance under the hood. The intercooler reservoir has more than twice the volume of previous generations, and the intercooler itself is a single core cross-flow radiator which means more efficient cooling. It is substantially larger than on prior model years, and is now raised higher off the ground which should offer much less potential for road debris damage. Even the hoses on the ROUSH 2010 427R have seen an upgrade; they are all now 100 percent molded rubber with abrasion resistance and have imprinted markings for things like the clamp locations. This makes for even more of a true OEM appearance under the hood, and ROUSH has taken this factory appearance to the degree of matching the Ford grain on the OEM radiator reservoir and duplicated it on the one used by the intercooler. Although much of the 4.6L, 3V powertrain components are a carryover from that used on the 2005-2009 ROUSH Mustangs, customers will notice much more refinement and OEM-level quality materials and appearance on the new ROUSHchargedâ„¢ engines. This new 427Râ„¢ is be covered by a 3-year/36,000 mile warranty.

The 2010 427Râ„¢ includes an appearance package which is comprised of several components such as a new front fascia and front splitter, rear fascia, side splitters, and a three-piece rear wing. The new rear fascia is a one-piece design which improves the fit and finish; the part is injection-molded by ROUSH Manufacturing in an OEM-level TPO plastic which, in the black color with decorative grain, will help reduce rock chips. The vehicle rides on 18-inch cast chrome wheels with high-performance Cooper Zeon tires, with a new 20-inch cast chrome wheel as an available option.

This package also includes an all-new suspension package to greatly enhance the handling of the vehicle and turn that daily commute into a slalom course. The ROUSH chassis engineering team has driven tens of thousands of miles on the streets and tracks to create the best blend of comfort and handling, and claim that this is the best suspension package they have come up with yet for the Mustang. A ROUSH wheel hop reduction kit will be included with all vehicles that have the upgraded ROUSH suspension package installed at the factory.

ROUSH® Performance continues their homage to the legendary World War II fighter plane with the 2009 P-51B™ Mustang, the second aviation-themed pony car from the Michigan-based manufacturer. This car, based on the 2009 Ford Mustang chassis, will be limited to just 51 numbered production vehicles in the 2009 model year^.

As with the previous 2008 ROUSH P-51A™ Mustang, introduced at the 2007 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the 2009 P-51B will also have 510 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque matching it as the most powerful ROUSH Mustang ever produced. In order to get this type of power from the Ford 4.6L, 3-valve engine, ROUSH technicians replace many of the internal components with stronger parts including forged aluminum pistons (with an increased dish to lower the compression ratio from 9.8 to 8.6), forged steel H-Beam connecting rods and a forged steel crankshaft and there is an upgraded high-capacity fuel delivery system installed. ROUSH also upgrades the clutch and includes a custom-calibration for the ECM to manage the performance of the next-generation TVS2300 ROUSHcharger®.

Among the changes for the 2009 P-51B are a secondary sheave FEAD, the addition of the ROUSH 6-piston brakes which can be seen through the new black chrome wheels, and a ROUSH vent pod gauge with a boost gauge. The car will be fitted with the new Cooper RS3 ultra-high performance tires, which, combined with the ROUSH Stage 3â„¢ suspension will give a road-hugging ride and nearly unmatched cornering ability. The Ford factory Vapor paint code will be accented with Olive Drab green badging to match the World War II motif, and a rear decklid black-out panel is included. The P-51B logo adorns the shifter ball, floor mats and is embroidered into the leather seating. Further matching the history of the fighter plane, which often saw different metal panels used to patch the planes back into flying and fighting condition, the six-piece ROUSH aerobody kit will have both Vapor and Silver colors utilized for a subtle, but highly unique, look on the road.

The 2009 P-51B continues the yellow and red checkerboard accents which pay tribute to the brave pilots of the 357th Fighters Group, Eighth Air Force ETO (European Theater Operations) who were unofficially known as “The Yoxford Boys” after a village near their base. Its victory totals in air-to-air combat are the most of any P-51 group in the Eighth Air Force and third among all groups fighting in Europe. The 357th flew
313 combat missions between February 11, 1944 and April 25, 1945 and is officially credited by the US Air Force with having destroyed 595.5 German airplanes in the air and 106.5 on the ground.

Jack Roush has played a major role in designing both the 2008 ROUSH P-51A and the new 2009 P-51B Mustang, which ties into his affection for both the history of the fighter plane as well as his hobby of restoring and flying them.

“The 2009 ROUSH P-51B is really the closest thing we can do to truly match the performance and styling of the fighter plane,” said Jack Roush. “Just like the airplane, the P-51B Mustang has the power to outrun most anything, can turn like virtually nothing else, and will make those other ‘pilots’ have second thoughts before engaging in a skirmish.”

The 2009 ROUSH P-51B is now starting to arrive at ROUSH-authorized Ford dealers and has a suggested retail pricing starting at $65,800 including destination fees and gas guzzler taxes. The few options available include a ROUSH trunk tool kit, enhanced ROUSH resonator exhaust and an Escort Passport 9500ci radar/laser defense system. As with all ROUSH vehicles, the 2009 P-51B has an industry-leading 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.

The Journey:

Hillbank Motor Corp collected all the pieces of this performance puzzle and began to align the stars for this new venture. Once the pieces were all collected, Hillbank called on Exotic Automotive Restorations to masterfully assemble the dream car!

The MKIII-R started its journey in South Africa, where it was built completely minus the engine and transmission by Hi Tech Automotive RSA and shipped Hillbank Motor Corp. After 5 weeks on the water it arrived at Hillbank and was quickly sent over to Exotic where it began the transformation process.

The Exotic crew first removed all of the chrome factory trim pieces including the windshield, hood and trunk latches, headlight rings, quick jacks, all the way down to the Tonneau cover rivets and roll bar and sent them out to be coated in a black chrome finish. LIVONIA, Mich. (September 9, 2008) – Historically, the National Hot Rod Association has only approved powertrains for competition as they come from the factories in Detroit, but all that changed with the recent approval of the 2008 ROUSH® supercharged 4.6L V-8 in the Stage 3â„¢ and P-51Aâ„¢ Mustangs. It is believed that this is the first time the NHRA has approved an aftermarket powertrain for competition.

The ROUSH Mustangs will be allowed in the NHRA Stock and SuperStock categories as determined by the horsepower and shipping weight of the two vehicles. Coupe or convertible chassis will be allowed with a horsepower of 430 for the Stage 3 and 510 for the P-51A. The shipping weight of the ROUSH coupes is 3316 pounds, while a convertible weighs in at 3443 pounds.

Depending on the combination of coupe or convertible and the ROUSH Stage 3 or P-51A powertrain, the cars would be classified between AA Stock and B Stock or SuperStock A and F. It is anticipated that the first team to campaign a ROUSH Mustang in NHRA competition will be Haas, Carrothers & Wagner Racing. The team, which has won three consecutive NHRA Division 3 championships (2004-2006), is currently building a ROUSH Mustang with a Stage 3 powertrain.
