An diesem Wochenende war es endlich soweit, Steve Saleen stellte in einem gemieteten Nachtclub in Orange Country, bei einem kleinen Rave, den neuen SMS 570 Dodge Challenger, offiziell vor! Neu und absolut charakteristisch für den SMS Chally sind die Schmetterling artig angeordneten Lufteinlässe mit roten Schutzklappen, der neue Kühlergrill und die neu gestaltete Heckpartie. Angelegt an die Challenger aus den 70’igern, wurde der SMS 570 in einem Violett präsentiert. Er wird letzten Endes in mehreren Ausbaustufen zu ordern sein, so erzielt Saleen aus dem Chrysler 5,7L HEMI V8 Motor, in der “kleinsten” Ausbaustufe, eine Leistung von 500 PS mit Hilfe eines Kompressorkits. Die Topversion wird mit 700 PS daher kommen. Natürlich bietet Saleen auch ein neues Interior, neue Bremsen und Fahrwerke an, um die Pakete komplett zu machen und das Fahrzeug der Leistung anzupassen. Ab Ende Januar will man mit der Produktion beginnen, die Preise werden zwischen 60.000 und 70.000 Dollar liegen. Der 2010 SMS Mustang und SMS Camaro, werden später, im laufe dieses Jahres folgen!

The fully certified and street legal SMS 570 Challenger and SMS 570X Challenger will be based off the 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T platform and will feature a SMS designed and engineered SMS 296 Supercharger atop the 5.7L Hemi, with power ratings from 500 to over 700 horsepower respectively.

The MSRP’s for the 2009 SMS 570 Challenger and SMS 570X Challenger are targeted to start at $60,000 to $70,000 respectively with production commencing in 2008. Both models will carry a bumper-to-bumper factory warranty.
